Robert Fried and Karen Kowgios began their accounting careers in 1984 and 1987 respectively. After developing many years of expertise in theatrical and not-for-profit accounting, they together created Fried and Kowgios Partners LLP in January of 2003.

Fried & Kowgios Partners has been able to marry the technical aspects of both commercial and not-for-profit Theatre with the accounting practices that are required of the theatrical industry and the complex rules under which not-for profit organizations are governed. By using our advanced knowledge of the theatrical field, the firm is able to provide producers, general managers, and lawyers the essential services that these entities need in order to operate effectively. In addition, we can advise management and boards on business practices and charitable operations to help them successfully fulfill their mission.

In addition, as producers have grown their businesses by choosing to self or co-produce in foreign countries such as Canada, the UK, and Australia, we have learned the intricacies of doing business in these countries and can provide you and your business with the proper planning necessary to effectively produce in these countries. Our international tax experience also allows us to provide planning and structuring for theatrical productions coming to the United States and we can provide advice to foreign producers for their US productions.
